Wherever CONNEX works, our mission is to empower governments to negotiate better contracts. Below are just a couple of examples of our supported projects.
Senegal
In Senegal, CONNEX provided geological and legal-strategic advice to the government. CONNEX’s engagement helped to identify a company’s overproduction, renegotiations potentially going to (costly) arbitration and to the building of capacity and knowledge within negotiation team.

Colombia
In Colombia, CONNEX provided geological, environmental and mining expertise to the provincial government of Antioquia in the evaluation around the licensing of a large-scale copper-gold mine. The support led to better decision making regarding potential renewable energy sources to operate the mine, as well as how to engage with surrounding communities. It also resulted in the government requesting missing environmental information from the company.

Argentina
CONNEX provided a team of experts to assist the Catamarca government to prepare for mine closure negotiations with an investor, specifically financial guarantees once the mine was closed. Not only successful on a regional level, it led to a national discussion, paving the way for the introduction of national legislation in mine closure.

Liberia
With financial modelling expertise, CONNEX assisted the Liberian government to recoup an immediate $22 million US for an advanced pricing agreement (APA) for iron ore as well as a 25% increase in royalty revenues.
