  1. CONNEX Support Unit
  2. Cooperation

Support for large-scale contract negotiations is offered by a number of international organizations and initiatives, usually with a focus on legal issues and less emphasis on financial or economic aspects. The CONNEX Support Unit cooperates with these other service providers, bringing its specific experience and expertise to the table.

The CONNEX Support Unit is firmly committed to this comprehensive approach to contract negotiation, which creates synergies for the benefit of the partner countries concerned.

International Senior Lawyers Project (ISLP)

The International Senior Lawyers Project provides pro bono legal assistance to low-income countries, civil society organizations and marginalized communities, supporting transparent stakeholder engagement and community-inclusive development.

ISLP’s Natural Resource Management work assists governments in reviewing, analyzing and negotiating contracts relating to the exploration, development and use of natural resources. Additionally, ISLP helps design and draft legal and regulatory frameworks that encourage fair returns, transparency and accountability. It also builds the capacities of government officials to implement these frameworks.

Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment

The Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment (CCSI), a joint center of Columbia Law School and the Earth Institute at Columbia University, is the only university-based applied research center and forum dedicated to the study, practice and discussion of sustainable international investment.

CCSI set up and manages the Negotiation Support Portal, which aims to bridge the information-sharing and coordination gap in this field. It improves the awareness and accessibility of tools, resources and technical support available to governments during the investment process. The Portal is a core part of the CONNEX Initiative.
